If you’re a fan of the Druid Irish Pub downtown, you only have a few days left to grab a pint.
The popular Jasper Avenue watering hole will close its doors after a final farewell party Saturday night as the establishment undergoes a revamp.
“Downtown is changing a lot and we’re kind of the place that sets the standard and we kind of thought that our clones were popping up around us so we decided to just kind of change up a few things and evolve,” bar manager Franco Camminatore said.

As for what’s to come, that’s still to be discovered.
“It’s kind of tight-lipped right now but it will be drastically different. You won’t recognize the Druid at all,” Camminatore said.
The Druid opened on 116 Street and Jasper Avenue in 2000 and was a staple for many downtown pub-goers. Camminatore said regulars see the makeover as bittersweet.
“A lot of them are pretty shaken up about it. They’re pretty surprised because they’ve always seen this place as a really busy place. A lot of people have memories here,” he said. “They like the idea of something new in the area but they don’t want to lose the memories that they’ve had.”
The pub will host a farewell party starting at 7 p.m. Saturday. The new pub is expected to be open in six to eight weeks depending on how construction goes.
