The Southern Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit is investigating after a 32-year-old man died of his injuries when the pickup truck he was driving collided with a vehicle that had been following him east of Red Deer Sunday night.
Mounties said at 11:30 p.m., officers were told about a “suspicious” Dodge Dakota pickup truck in the Delburne area. Police said that truck was driven onto a rural property where it got stuck before the driver “took a Ford F150 from the property.”
Police said the “complainant in this occurrence was following the suspicious Dodge” and continued following the Ford F150 after but did not say why the truck was being reported as “suspicious.”
According to police, the complainant’s vehicle and the Ford F150 collided near Highway 42 and Range Road 240 and the driver of the Ford was airlifted to hospital in Calgary by STARS Air Ambulance where he later died of his injuries.
RCMP said they continue to investigate what caused the crash and said “further information will not be available.”
