Video making social media rounds appears to show assault in Winnipeg

WINNIPEG — A video making the rounds on social media appears to show a violent assault in Winnipeg.

It was uploaded to the video sharing site VIDME 18 hours ago and already has more than 1,400 views at the time of this writing.

The video shows a man attack another man sitting on the sidewalk beside a bicycle. He first kicks him in the face, then punches him, which appears to knock him unconscious. A woman sits on the sidewalk nearby as the assault goes on and she appears to be bleeding.

The only description of the video said, “don’t ride on the sidewalk in Winnipeg.”

When Global News spoke with Winnipeg police about the video Thursday night police said, “We are not discussing that.”

The street appears to be near the intersection of Salter Street and Boyd Avenue.

It’s unknown when this video was recorded.
