WINNIPEG — As Pokemon Go continues to bring more kids and teens outside, parents are on high alert. River Heights has a history of vandalism and break ins, and parents don’t want to see kids having any unwanted run-ins.
“They could be assaulted, or have somebody approaching them for their phone,” Jon Waldman said.
Waldman started the Facebook group “Smashed Windows Club” after reports of several break-ins in the area. Neighbours have reported more incidents of bike thefts over the last year. He worries that kids’ safety is at stake.

“The last thing we want is for an innocent kid who’s just wanting to play Pokemon to have their phone stolen or worse,” Waldman said.
Parents at The Forks told Global News that they have set rules for their kids like staying in groups and not going out too late. Kids who come across any dangerous situations are encouraged to call Winnipeg police.
