A Vancouver Island man had a 45-minute staring contest with a cougar in his backyard, catching a good chunk of it on film.
And the stunning footage does not disappoint.
“I have no doubt I that I was being considered as an early evening snack!” posted Larry McCafferty, who shot the video from his house in Shirley, B.C., on his YouTube video.
He said the stare-down lasted for about 45 minutes but he cut his video down to only 11 minutes.
Viewers missed the best part, according to McCafferty, thanks to his camera’s memory card filling up.
“When it came around the tree it took a couple of steps in my direction and then turned and put the front paws up on the cherry tree and had a look around up there… then came down and took another step or two in my direction… at which point I stepped back into my door,” he wrote.
The cougar in the video has a yellow tag on its ear, meaning it has already been tracked by the B.C. Conservation Office and relocated before.
