Saskatchewan RCMP constable charged with assault

RCMP have charged one of their own with assault following an altercation last year in Meadow Lake, Sask.

Police initially responded to a noise complaint on Dec. 14, 2015 at a residence in the northern Saskatchewan community.

An altercation took place prior to Mounties arriving.

Investigators learned that an off-duty constable was alleged to have been involved.

On Tuesday, Const. Khen Wilkins was arrested and charged with one count of assault.

He has been released from custody on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Meadow Lake provincial court on Sept. 26.

Wilkins was placed on administrative duty on Dec. 16, 2015 while a code of conduct investigation took place.

In a release, RCMP said the investigation is now complete and Wilkins has returned to regular duty at the Meadow Lake detachment.
