A Fort Qu’Appelle, Sask., Mountie didn’t have to go far to charge a woman with drunk driving.
The constable was exercising in the parking lot of the detachment on July 24 when a silver minivan was driven into the lot.

He approached the woman when she left the van and identified himself as a police officer, as he was in gym clothes.
The woman told him that she needed help locating her missing daughter.
Police said that the woman “was clearly intoxicated” and was brought inside the detachment where she was arrested.
Numerous liquor containers were seized by police during a search of the minivan.

Melissa Gordon, 32, has been charged with impaired driving, exceeding .08, failing to comply with a probation order and driving while disqualified.
She is also facing charges of operating an unregistered vehicle, using or permitting to be used a licence plate on the wrong vehicle and having, keeping or consuming alcohol in a vehicle.
Gordon, who is from Wynyard, Sask., has been released from custody and will appear in Fort Qu’Appelle provincial court on Aug. 29.
Police also impounded the minivan.

Gordon’s daughter was found not to be missing.
During July, Fort Qu’Appelle RCMP investigated 17 impaired driving complaints. Charges have been laid in 14 of the complaints while the other three were unfounded or still under investigation.
