Saskatoon Forecast
Today
Severe thunderstorms rolled through last night with hail damage in some parts of the city and grape sized hail reported in Martensville.
If you’re a light sleeper and forgot to set the alarm clock this morning, it didn’t really matter as it was a rumbly start to the day as a storm packing steadier rain and lightning rolled through this morning.
The lightning then eased off, but the rain kept falling fairly steadily through the morning with temperatures bouncing back and forth between 16 and 17 degrees into the noon hour.
Rain is expected to continue this afternoon with a few breaks possible as temperatures push into the high teens.
Tonight
The low pressure system responsible for the rain will eventually pull off to the east tonight, which means the showers will ease off, but overcast skies will stick around tonight as the mercury falls back into low-to-mid double digits.
Tuesday
Tomorrow should start off a bit drier with just a slight chance of showers early on, but clouds sticking around through the day with a chance of rain and thunderstorms in the afternoon.
Our daytime high will return back into the low-to-mid 20s in the afternoon.
Wednesday-Friday
Our next low pressure system that will not only be a surface low, but also an upper low – meaning it will be packed with precipitation – is expected to move in late Wednesday.
That means the rain and chance of thunderstorms are likely later in the day Wednesday with cloud cover sticking around throughout.
Rain is likely to then continue overnight into Thursday morning as the upper low passes by.
A northwesterly flow behind the system is likely to keep conditions mostly cloudy, possibly wet and unsettled through Friday with a chance at a few more sunny breaks.
Temperatures through the period will attempt to top out in the low 20s each day, depending on the timing and extent of the rain, with the warmest day likely to be Friday around 23 degrees.
Weekend Outlook
The weekend looks to be a much better bet for nice, warm and sunny weather!
An upper ridge will finally build back in, bringing back mostly sunny skies both days and daytime highs back into the mid-to-high 20s.
