The City of West Kelowna is mitigating concerns over the future of the Westbank Lions Hall.
The Lions Club proposed handing ownership over to the city because the group is planning to shift its focus away from managing and maintaining the facility.
Some people worried about what that would mean for the community hall.
However, the city said it would be committed to maintaining the hall as a facility that is dedicated to community and recreational events if the building is transferred over to the municipality.
Another stipulation is that the city honour the current leases with non profits such as the Canadian Red Cross and the Westside Youth Centre.
Council is reviewing the specifics of the transfer and will announce at an upcoming meeting whether the city will be taking over management of the hall.
