Burnaby RCMP are warning the public after two violent attacks took place Friday night.
The first incident happened around midnight in the 4,200 hundred block of Sardis Street, near Patterson Avenue.
The victim was assaulted outside an apartment building by a Caucasian man making racial slurs.
Shortly after the first incident, a woman was attacked by a man close to where the first incident took place.
The suspect grabbed her hijab and tried to rip it off her head.
The woman struggled to fight him off, but he was scared away by a car driving by.
Corporal John Yang with Burnaby RCMP says they believe the attacks might be connected and racially motivated.
He says both attacks were unprovoked.
Yang says the investigation is on its early stages, but they are asking the public to be aware of their surroundings.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Burnaby RCMP.
