Okanagan Spirits bourbon style whiskey was more than five years in the making, but it only took five days to sell out.

“When we launched it we had to shut down online portion of our sales because it basically crashed our site,” Tyler Dyck, CEO of Okanagan Spirits said.

The daily email you need for 's top news stories.

According to Dyck BRBN is the first locally distilled bourbon style whiskey to be produced in Western Canada.

The corn was grown in the Coldstream Valley and it was milled, fermented and distilled onsite at both Okanagan Spirits Distilleries in Vernon and Kelowna.

The company had anticipated a good response.

“Bourbon is the sexy whiskey on the market now so we knew people were going to want it,” Dyck said.

Even though the bottles are sold out  people can still give BRBN a try at select restaurants in the Okanagan and the lower mainland.
