Movies on Memorial kicks off Tuesday night in Winnipeg

WINNIPEG — It’s time to get your lawn chairs and popcorn ready, as free movies are back in downtown Winnipeg.

The Movies on Memorial kicks off Tuesday night, with the screening of the Disney classic, Aladdin.

The free event is put on by the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ and takes places at Memorial Park by the Manitoba Legislature.

The outdoor movie theatre transformation will take place every Tuesday in August at sundown.

Movies on Memorial

  • August 2 – Aladdin.
  • August 9 – Forrest Gump.
  • August 16 – E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.
  • August 23 – Big Hero 6.
  • August 30 –  Mystery movie, which will be revealed on social media the week of August 30.

If you can’t get enough of the outdoors movie experience this summer, the Downtown Drive-In will also show superhero blockbusters.

The event takes place every Saturday evening throughout August at the parking lot on the corner of Graham Avenue and Garry Street. It’s free for people who are on bikes or foot, but costs $10 to reserve a spot for a vehicle.

  • August 6 – The Incredibles.
  • August 13 – Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
  • August 20 – The Hunger Games: Mockingjay: Part 2.
  • August 27 – Mystery movie, which will be revealed on social media the week of August 27.
