WINNIPEG – Rain delays during a baseball game aren’t unusual.
But mind you, last night’s match between the Winnipeg Goldeyes and Kansas T-Bones wasn’t your typical tilt.

The two teams were doused by the automatic sprinklers at Shaw Park during extra innings. Players were sprayed around 11:45 pm while in the bottom of the 11th. The game was well into its fourth hour, interfering with when the sprinklers are scheduled to go off. The soaking went on for several minutes until someone was able to stop the water, allowing the game to resume.
The nearly five-hour-long match finally finished at 11:54 pm with the Goldeyes winning 16-15 in 11 innings. The abundance of runs slowed the night but didn’t set a league record. The most runs scored by both teams in American Association history is 36.
Most fans didn’t leave the ballpark until well after midnight as the game was followed by fireworks.
The Goldeyes will try for a third straight win tonight as they once again face the T-Bones in Winnipeg.
