Bristol Palin‘s husband, Dakota Meyer, has faced the wrath of social media after posting a photo to Instagram showing his seven-month-old daughter Sailor Grace in her car seat, right next to his handgun.

Meyer, 28, is a former Marine and a lifelong advocate for firearms. In the photo caption, he writes that “carrying has always been important to me.”
Now, he says, being armed is even more important because he has to protect his young daughter. Many social-media users lambasted Meyer for his post, including celebrity blogger Perez Hilton.
Bristol and her mother, former vice-presidential candidate and Alaska governor Sarah Palin, are also gun advocates. The pair hit the gun range just two weeks after Sailor Grace was born for a “home defence and safety” gun course.
Two weeks ago, Meyer and Bristol posted another photo of Sailor Grace, this time with a piece of heavy artillery — a Gatling gun — and the caption “future member of the NRA.”
Bristol recently partnered with LifeHouse Maternity Home, a safehouse for women, to design a charity T-shirt. On Friday, she posted a photo to Instagram with her sister Piper, 15, modelling it.
Bristol has been a teen-pregnancy prevention spokesperson after she became pregnant at age 17.
“Please do me a favor and support this amazing place and tell America how you feel about life, God, and guns,’ she wrote of the T-shirts, which have the words “Pro Life, Pro God, Pro Gun” emblazoned on the front.

Meyer and Bristol revealed in June that they had married in a secret ceremony, and they have one child together. Bristol has another child, Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston, with ex-boyfriend Levi Johnston.
