Police officer injured after being struck by vehicle at Yonge and Bloor

A police officer suffered minor injuries after being struck by a vehicle near a construction site in downtown Toronto Thursday morning.

The collision happened around 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of Yonge Street and Bloor Street.

A witness told Global News the male officer was attempting to stop a vehicle from passing through a restricted area when he was hit from behind by a pick-up truck.

“The policeman was unconscious at first, for a minute, then he started to come to and the ambulance came,” said Stefanie Chorlton, who was out on a morning walk with her dog.

Eastbound Bloor is closed at Yonge Street for the police investigation.
