CLARINGTON, Ont. – Five people have been sent to hospital after a head-on collision east of Toronto.
Durham Regional police say an SUV collided with a pickup truck around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday in Clarington, Ont.

They say the 69-year-old woman driving the SUV sustained life-threatening injuries and her passengers, a 16-year-old boy and 14-year-old girl, are in hospital in serious condition.

A 66-year-old man driving the pickup truck and his 59-year-old passenger were taken to a local hospital for minor injuries.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
