Witnesses told Global News it appeared the driver was leaving a nearby car show when the incident happened.

“They were leaving the show and they turning left at the lights… and it sounded like they were doing some stunting – maybe some burnouts or maybe some fast accelerations – and the girl who was driving lost control and came up to the sidewalk there,” Evan Riegel said.

Police said charges are pending against the 20-year-old driver.
