1 person killed in northern Alberta collision

Police were called to a collision in northern Alberta early Wednesday morning that claimed the life of one person and sent three others to hospital.

Two vehicles were involved in the crash, which happened at around midnight on Highway 28 near Range Road 174, just west of Smoky Lake.

No information has been released about the extent of the injuries of the three people who were sent to hospital.

A section of Highway 28 was closed as police investigated the cause of the collision. The road was expected to be closed for several hours.

Smoky Lake is 114 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.
