3 people unhurt after helicopter makes emergency landing in southern Alberta

Three people were rescued near Ice Lake after the private helicopter they were in was forced to land in the remote area Sunday.

Shortly after lunch, RCMP in Sundre, Alta. were told that a distress signal was activated near the Forestry Truck Road and Coal Camp area.

A plane flying over the area reported seeing a helicopter and three people waving from the ground.

RCMP and Alberta Forestry crews went up in aircraft to search for them in a wooded area southwest of Sundre.

On Sunday evening, RCMP said the three people had been found and were believed to be uninjured.

Mounties said the private helicopter “experienced some issues” which forced it to land.

Sundre is about 116 kilometres northwest of Calgary.
