PENSAR rescues severely injured 15-year-old girl

A helicopter was used to rescue a 15-year-old girl after an ATV accident at Apex Mountain near Penticton.

PENSAR crews received the call around 4:45 Saturday afternoon.

The young girl from Penticton was with a group of ATV riders when the accident happened.

One of the riders made their way into cell range to call 9-1-1 and then directed first responders to the scene.

PENSAR sent it’s helicopter and Air Evacuation Team along with ground support.  Due to the seriousness of the girl’s injuries, BC EHS also responded with an air ambulance.

The PENSAR air team was able to rescue the girl and flew her to a nearby landing area, where she was transfered to the EHS Air Ambulance Critical Care Team, and flown to Kelowna General Hospital.

No further details about the girls condition have been released.
