With their fundraising goal of $25 million nearly reached, Fredericton’s Beaverbrook Art Gallery has moved their renovation fundraising target up.
Through the help of donors the gallery is on track to surpass their initial goal soon, but they say they aren’t slowing down just yet.
“We have a new target of $28 million,” explained director and CEO Terry Graff. “We feel that with the support and the momentum that we have that it’s achievable.”
The gallery closed its doors in January for interior renovations, with plans to re-open in May.
However construction is ongoing as an addition is still being built on the facility’s east side. The addition, known as the Pavilion, will serve as an extension to the nearly 60-year-old gallery.
“Our vision is to create a bigger and better Beaverbrook Art Gallery,” said Graff.
Although Graff says they’re a not-for-profit organization and fundraising is an integral part of their operation, right now they’re concentrating on reaching their new goal and not looking to change it again any time soon.
Graff also noted that helping them achieve their goals comes in many forms and that ultimately the space is there for those who want to enjoy it.
“Whether it’s through cash, through volunteer work or simply becoming a member,” Graff said. “The Beaverbrook Art Gallery belongs to the people of New Brunswick.”
Additional funds are expected to be used to help pay for various programs put on by the gallery such as student visitor trips.
