Ontario Provincial Police said their emergency response team executed a search warrant on the building on July 11, and seized the following:

  • 2,012 marijuana plants in various stages of growth.
  • 25 pounds of marijuana bud.
  • 26 grams of cannabis resin (hash).
  • Hydroponic growing equipment.

Police said the grow op was “elaborate” with much of the abandoned abbatoir’s space used for growing marijuana.

As a result of the investigation, police arrested Ottawa residents Adam Gunderson-Lord, 37, and John Armstrong, 36.

Gunderson-Lord has been charged with production of marijuana and possession of marijuana and Armstrong has been charged with production of marijuana.

Both men were held in custody for a bail hearing on July 13, and released on bail ahead of a court appearance on August 15.
