Calgary police charge driver with hitting and killing senior

Calgary police have laid charges in connection to a fatal pedestrian crash in the community of Forest Lawn earlier this year.

The pedestrian, a 67-year-old woman, was hit in the intersection of 8 Avenue S.E. and 47 Street S.E.  at around 10:15 p.m. on March 17.

Police said the victim was walking south across 8 Avenue S.E. in a marked crosswalk when she was hit by an eastbound Chrysler Pacifica.

EMS rushed the woman to hospital in critical, life-threatening condition where she later died.

On Tuesday, police announced Chol Chol, 31, of Calgary had been charged with careless driving and failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
