A Surrey family continues to wait for answers about why their son was shot and killed by police more than a year ago.
On the anniversary of Hudson Brooks’ death, family and friends packed the street in front of the south Surrey police station.
The 20-year-old was fatally shot by officers after an altercation outside the station in 2015.
The Independent Investigations Office says it is waiting for a ballistics report to be completed.
Until then, friends and family are promising to keep up regular protests.
“The excessive use of force report, that has been written by the RCMP, doesn’t make sense to me,” said Jennifer Brooks, Hudson’s mom. “If you’re being investigated by the IIO, why are you writing whether there was excessive force report.”
