WINNIPEG — A massive fire tore through a home in the city’s West End Sunday evening, causing extensive damage and killing a dog who was trapped inside the house.

The fire broke out just before midnight on the 1800 block of Logan Avenue.

When fire crews arrive, the house was up in flames and smoke could be seen billowing from the building.

One man was treated with oxygen on the scene, and the family dog died inside.

No word on what caused the fire or the damage amount.

The arson unit is investigating.
