Two people in hospital after north Edmonton shooting

Two people, one in critical condition, are in hospital Wednesday morning, after a shooting overnight.

Around 11:15pm Tuesday, police responded to several gun-related complaints at a restaurant parking lot near 32 Street and 118 Avenue. As police were responding to that call, they received another call from the Northeast Medical Centre, where a man and woman arrived, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The two people were dropped off in a silver Chrysler 300, which was abandoned when the driver ran away on foot.

The woman was shot several times in the torso, but is in stable condition. The man is in critical condition, after receiving multiple shots to the chest.

“We have no information to indicate that the two events are linked at all,” explains EPS Inspector Brian Nowlan. “We have an identity of the driver of the vehicle, but again we don’t know if he’s been hit as well, why he fled the scene or what. We have the vehicle; it’s being seized and will be examined by our forensic experts.”
