The fire started in a home that was under construction. It then spread to a neighbouring home and the surrounding trees.

One home is destroyed.

A spokesperson for Fire and Rescue Services for the District of North Vancouver says the first 911 call came in at 5:40 a.m.

There is no word yet on the cause, but no one was injured in the fire.

As this area is only accessible by boat, Vancouver Fire Department’s boat was called in to help.

The BC Wildfire Service also assisted by dropping water from the air.

Royal Canadian Search and Rescue, VPD Marine Unit, RCMP Marine, Coast Fire and BC Hydro are on scene. The District of North Vancouver Emergency Operations Centre has also been activated.
