Banff National Park issued two bear warnings Monday night after reports of grizzlies and black bears in areas of the park.
A grizzly bear warning was issued for the Bourgeau Lake Trail and Harvey Pass area as the park said several bears have been frequenting the area, including a bear “displaying bold behaviour.”
A black bear warning was issued for the Two Jack Main Campground area due to an animal frequenting the area in search of food.
Officials remind people to never approach or feed wildlife and make sure all food, garbage and pet food are stored in a building or vehicle. Children should be supervised, pets kept on leashes and bear spray should be on hand.
Any bear sightings should be reported to Banff Dispatch at 403-762-1470. The warning will remain in effect until further notice.
