Environment Canada has confirmed a tornado touched down near Killam Sunday afternoon, about 165 kilometres south east of Edmonton.
A massive storm cell blew through the region just after 4 p.m. packing a punch with toonie sized hail.
Environment Canada received reports of minor damage in the area, including to a farm yard.
No injuries were reported.
Storm chasers following the ominous looking clouds spotted the tornado south east of Killam around 4:15 p.m.

“I could just see it kicking up dirt for sure,” Nevin deMilliano said. “I could see a few loose objects too. It was so small at the base that it was really just impacting a small area.”
He said the tornado lasted less than five minutes.
Environment Canada issued a tornado warning for Flagstaff County at 4:24 p.m. including Alliance, Bellshill Lake, Lougheed and Hardisty.
The warning was dropped at 4:46 p.m.

“In Alberta, in July, this is our storm season,” deMilliano said. “It is more common than people think, but you have to go to rural places to even see them and a lot of the times they go unreported because there’s no one out there.”
As of 8:30 p.m. Sunday night, a severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect for the region extending to Lloydminster, Wainwright, Provost and Vermilion.
