Driver backs into 3-year-old girl in Auburn Bay driveway

WATCH ABOVE: A 3-year-old girl has a broken leg after she was hit by a car backing up in a driveway. It’s the third time in 3 months it has happened in Calgary, and it’s a reminder to drivers and parents to be more cautious. Global’s Tony Tighe reports – Jun 30, 2016

A 3-year-old girl was rushed to hospital on Thursday after being hit by a minivan as it backed out of a driveway in the community of Auburn Bay.

It happened in the 500 block of Auburn Bay Heights S.E. at around 6:40 a.m.

Police said the young girl was riding on a scooter when she was hit; EMS indicated she was on the sidewalk at the time.

Paramedics rushed the victim to the Alberta Children’s Hospital with the help of a police escort, in serious but stable condition.

According to police, the minivan was being driven by a neighbour. It’s unknown if charges will be laid.
