MONTREAL – A blitz to replace the Mercier Bridge deck has begun.
For the next eight weeks the bridge connecting Kahnawake and the borough of Lasalle will be reduced to one lane in both directions.

Construction will be completed in two phases, the first will close the access ramp from Chateauguay to Montreal.
The second will add the closure of the access ramp from La Prairie towards Montreal.
A speed limit of 50 kilometres per hour has been imposed, and trucks will not be allowed on the bridge during rush hour.

The federal authority, The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated, recommends using public transportation or carpooling.
An alternate route to reach Chateauguay and Kahnawake by car is the Champlain Bridge using the Highway 132 West access ramp or Highway 30.
