Lynda Carter, a.k.a. Wonder Woman, to play president on ‘Supergirl’

Lynda Carter, best-known as superhero Wonder Woman from the campy ’70s TV series, has signed on to play the president on Supergirl. It had long been rumoured that Carter was being eyed for the role.

Carter confirmed her casting on Twitter.

After the Season 1 finale, Supergirl co-showrunner Ali Adler told The Hollywood Reporter that having Carter join the series would be “incredible” and a “true honour.”

The 64-year-old former beauty queen guest-starred on a 2007 episode of Smallville, the CW/Global TV series that chronicled Superman’s childhood.

Supergirl is moving to Showcase this fall after previously airing on Global TV. Similarly, in the U.S. the show is migrating from CBS to The CW.

Last Thursday, the show announced that it had cast its Superman.

Tyler Hoechlin, who played Derek Hale on the TV series Teen Wolf, is ready to put on the red cape and blue suit as Clark Kent/Superman in Supergirl‘s upcoming second season.

You can watch ‘Supergirl’ Season 2 on Showcase. Season 2 is currently slated to premiere on Oct. 10, 2016.
