Jessie Simpson should be celebrating his high school graduation. Instead, he is on life support after a fight broke out in the driveway of a Kamloops home.
“I couldn’t believe that someone would do that to him,” neighbour Christina Forde said. “Jessie’s never had a mean bone in his body. He never picked a fight.”
Kamloops RCMP said a fight broke out in the driveway of a home on Clifford Avenue shortly before 5 a.m. Sunday.
The owner of the home, Kristopher Teichrieb, allegedly chased the teen down the street and struck him with a baseball bat. Teichrieb, 39, has been charged with attempted murder.
People who know the father of three said he had complained of break-ins in the past.
A GoFundMe page has been set up for Simpson’s family. A family member posted on the fundraising page that Simpson has been declared brain dead by doctors. His family is waiting for his brother to fly in from Nova Scotia before he’s taken off life support.
Teichrieb will appear in court on Thursday.
