WINNIPEG – The City of Winnipeg has unveiled a proposed design for the downtown Garry Street bike lane.
The three-meter bike lane down Garry Street will connect The Forks to the Exchange District at Arthur Street and Adelaide Street. The makeover will still allow for parking. But, is expected to take away approximately 16% of the total on-street parking stalls and loading spaces in the area to make it in to the two-way bike lane going down the left side of the road.
The City says public input received over a year-long consultation has been incorporated in to the design option. City Officials are inviting the public to check out the design on their website or to come down on Thursday to the Forks to give any additional feedback necessary.

Local cycling advocates have long called for more bike-friendly areas in the city with a physical barrier. This recommended design will be sectioned off from car traffic.
