Brooks man charged in connection with deadly hit and run

RCMP said a man from Brooks has been charged in connection with a deadly hit and run in the southeast Alberta city last month, in which the 83-year-old victim later died.

According to Mounties, on the afternoon of May 28, the senior was riding an electric mobility scooter when he was hit by a vehicle in a pedestrian crosswalk near a Wal Mart.

The victim died of his injuries a week later.

In a release issued Friday, Mounties said their investigation “led to the discovery of the suspect vehicle and charges against the registered owner.”

RCMP did not release the name of the accused or what charges he will face but said he is scheduled to appear in court on July 27.
