Summerland research centre gets federal funding for growth cabinets

The Summerland Research and Development Centre is receiving $1.1-million in federal funding to build new growth cabinets.

The Summerland research centre specializes in horticulture crops such as grapes and tree fruits.

“This will support the Centre’s activities to generate knowledge and technologies to promote sustainable production of wholesome foods and novel bioproducts from crops,” according to a federal government release.

The funding is part of a larger Canada-wide budget initiative, where federal government has promised $37.6-million to help modernize research stations and laboratories in B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario and Quebec.
