A student was airlifted to hospital Tuesday in stable condition from Salmon Arm Secondary School’s Jackson Campus.
The school district says the student was injured in shop class but “the extent of the injuries [is] unknown.”
“We are hoping for the best. Our thoughts are with the student and the student’s family,” said superintendent Glenn Borthistle in a media release.

The district says there will be an investigation into what led to the injury, but that “shop class accidents are very rare.”
The air ambulance was called to the Jackson Campus, which houses students in grades 9 and 10, at 2:51 p.m.
A B.C. Emergency Health Services spokesperson said they could not say what hospital the patient was taken to.
