Twenty-two-year-old singer Christina Grimmie has died after being shot following a performance in Orlando on Friday, according to her publicist.

At a news conference late Friday, police officials said Grimmie was shot around 10:45 p.m. local time at The Plaza Live where she had performed with the band Before You Exit earlier that night.

Police said the suspect shot Grimmie after her show, while merchandise was being sold and autographs written. Officials also said that Grimmie’s brother tackled the shooter who then shot himself.

Orlando police have identified Grimmie’s killer as 27-year-old Kevin James Loibl.

He may have been a deranged fan, although the motive was still unknown.

Sgt. Wanda Miglio said during a news conference after the shooting that about 60 to 100 people were in attendance, though only a handful remained when the shooting happened.

Miglio said she did not know what security was like at the venue, or how the shooter got two guns inside. She also said she did not know if off-duty officers were working the concert.
