Brent Kisio named Canada’s head coach for World Under-17 Hockey Challenge

Lethbridge Hurricanes head coach Brent Kisio has been named the head coach of Team Canada White at the upcoming World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

Kisio was appointed by Hockey Canada following a stellar year in his first season as head coach of the Hurricanes. Kisio led the team to a central division title and to the playoffs for the first time in seven years.

It is the first time that Kisio will serve as head coach for Hockey Canada. The 33-year-old has served as an assistant coach for Team Pacific at the tournament in 2013. This year his assistant coaches will be Swift Current Broncos’ Jamie Heward and Blainville-Boisbriand Armada’s Daniel Jacob.

The week-long tournament kicks off Oct. 30 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.
