Mercaptan is added to natural gas to give it the “rotten egg” smell.

The accidental release happened while a SaskEnery truck used to transport Mercaptan was undergoing a routine mechanical inspection.

Officials say they have received a number natural gas odour calls since the accident.

They say there is no risk to the public as the spill was from the truck and not the natural gas pipeline.

The odour should clear up Wednesday afternoon.
