Man charged after woman attacked, choked while jogging in Shubie Park

Halifax police say a man from Waterville, N.S., has been charged after a brazen attack on a woman in a popular park.

Police say the woman was running on a trail in Shubie Park around 2:20 Tuesday afternoon when a stranger approached her.

Police say he grabbed her neck and choked her until she bit his forearm and he ran away.

Officers arrested a man nearby at around 3 p.m.

Thirty-eight-year-old Shawn Howard Timmons is facing charges of assault, unlawful confinement and overcoming resistance, or choking.

Anyone who saw the incident or has information about it is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
