Woman grabbed, choked while running on Dartmouth trail: police

Halifax Regional Police are investigating after an assault occurred Tuesday afternoon in Dartmouth.

Police say at approximately 2:20 p.m., a 35-year-old woman was running on a trail in Shubie Park when she was approached by a man unknown to her.

The man grabbed the woman by the neck and began choking her.

The woman was able to bite the suspects forearm, and he fled the scene towards Waverly Road along Lake Charles.

The suspect is described as heavy-set man in his mid 30s, approximately 5’10”, with thin calves. At the time, the suspect was wearing a blue t-shirt and black shorts.

A man fitting the description was located in the area, and is currently in police custody for questioning.
