Taste Canada’s short list for 2012 food writing awards to be presented in fall

Canada’s broad range of food writers and publishers is reflected in Taste Canada’s short list for this fall’s awards.

The 73 submissions in four categories and two languages have been whittled down and the winners will be announced, together with the names of the jurors, on Nov. 5 in Toronto.

The Food Writing Awards, formerly known as the Canadian Culinary Book Awards, have been revamped with a new name, logo and revised award categories.

Shortlisted in the Culinary Narratives category:

– “Leslie Beck’s Longevity Diet,” Leslie Beck (Penguin Canada).

– “The Boreal Herbal,” Beverley Gray (Aroma Borealis Press).

– “Unquenchable,” Natalie MacLean (Doubleday Canada).

– “Genèse de la cuisine québécoise,” Jean-Marie Francoeur (Fides).

– “Une agriculture qui goûte autrement,” Hélène Raymond and Jacques Mathé (Éditions MultiMondes).
