Findlay crossed the line in 52nd, in tears and apologizing to Canadians for her performance.
Findlay was a gold-medal favourite until injuring her hip just over a year ago.
Whitfield says the staff around Findlay need to be held accountable for mismanaging that injury.
He says people shouldn’t be fired, but they should shoulder some responsibility for Findlay’s training program.
