An investigator says careless disposal of smoking material caused a garage fire in the King George neighbourhood on Monday. The Saskatoon Fire Department was called to the blaze around 4:45 p.m. CT at 725 Avenue L South.

Upon arrival, firefighters reported a detached garage fully involved with fire. Crews quickly initiated an offensive attack and had the blaze under control in around 20 minutes.

No injuries were reported.

The fire department estimates damage to be $35,000.
