The honourees are people who contributed, in a remarkable way, to the development and reputation of the city.

All of the Montrealers who have been honoured by the Académie des Grands Montréalais will also be officially admitted to the Order of Montreal.

The city has started a competition for artists to design the medal.

The winner will receive a contract of $21,700 to complete the design; second and third-prize winners will receive $3,000 and $2,000.
