WATCH ABOVE: Conditions are dry across Alberta, and wildfire officers are asking everyone to do their part to make sure no new fires are sparked. Gary Bobrovitz looks at the danger – May 2, 2016

A fire advisory was issued Monday for the Calgary Forest Area (CFA) west and southwest of the city.

Citing persistent hot and dry conditions, officials said the advisory will remain in effect until conditions improve.

As a result of the advisory, existing fire permits are cancelled and no new permits will be issued. Safe campfires are still allowed.

Albertans are asked to clear debris from hot spots on any off-highway vehicles like ATVs, make sure campfires are extinguished when done, and keep in mind that exploding targets can start wildfires.
