Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump wasn’t at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner Saturday night, but that didn’t stop President Barack Obama from taking shots at him.
It was Obama’s last Correspondents’ Dinner, and he took the opportunity to weigh in on the real estate mogul’s bid for his job.
He pretended to end his speech with some thank yous, but interrupted himself saying “nah, I’m just kidding. You know I’ve got to talk about Trump!”
“Although I am a little hurt that he’s not here tonight, we had so much fun the last time,” Obama joked, referencing the 2011 Correspondents’ Dinner.
(In 2011, Trump was spearheading the campaign claiming Obama wasn’t born in the United States. Obama didn’t miss the opportunity to fight back at that year’s Correspondents’ Dinner.)

The president offered up some excuses Trump might have given for not attending.

“Is this dinner too tacky for the Donald? What could he possibly be doing instead? Is he at home eating a Trump steak, tweeting out insults to Angela Merkel? What’s he doing?”

Obama also took some deeper jabs at Trump’s credentials.
“They say Donald lacks the foreign policy experience to be president,” he stated. “But in fairness, he has spent years meeting with leaders from around the world: Miss Sweden, Miss Argentina, Miss Azerbaijan.
“There’s one area where Donald’s experience could be invaluable. And that’s closing Guantanamo, because Trump knows a thing or two about running waterfront properties into the ground.”

The other presidential hopefuls weren’t spared. He referenced Ted Cruz’s basketball mishap from earlier this week, and Bernie Sanders’ slogan: Feel the Bern.
