Two high school students have been taken to hospital after a suspected drug overdose.
RCMP tweeted they were called to Auburn High School in Cole Harbour Wednesday afternoon after a male and female student were reported to be in distress after they “ingested a substance voluntarily that may have contained illegal drugs.”
The two students, whose ages weren’t given, were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Halifax Regional School Board spokesperson Doug Hadley told Global News in an email that students at the school believe the affected students may have eaten something causing them to have a reaction.
Hadley said he couldn’t confirm if it was drugs, “although that appears to be the case.”
RCMP say their investigation is ongoing.
