Back in 2012 Coquitlam RCMP Cpl. Jim Brown was suspended with pay after he appeared in a series of sexually explicit photos that were posted on Fetlife, an online “bondage, BDSM & fetish” community. In one of the photos, he is wearing RCMP riding boots and nothing else.

In the four years since, Brown has been collecting $85,000 a year in salary while gaining seniority. A number of dates for disciplinary hearings have been set and then cancelled.

Over the years, Brown has been active online, posting photos of his motorcycle trips and hosting a weekly web program on the paranormal.

Global News has learned that Brown finally submitted his resignation to BC RCMP Deputy Commissioner Craig Callens.

“To be clear, I have been seeking the dismissal of Cpl. Jim Brown since the conclusion of the investigation,” Callens said in a statement. “The hearing dates have been adjourned for reasons beyond my control, but are a reflection of some of the challenges we faced under the old RCMP Act. As the date for a hearing approached the individual submitted his discharge papers, which I immediately signed. His career with the RCMP is over.”
